Bord Bainistíochta (B O M) Feabhra 2010Ráiteas Aontaithe 10ú Feabhra 2010
The Bord Bainistíochta met on 10ú Feabhra.
Comhgairdeas:
Comhgairdeas mór le Seán agus Amy! Huge congratulations to Seán and Amy who have recently become engaged (yes, to each other!!). The Board wish them every happiness now and in the future.
Airgead / Finances:
The Board is eager to keep parents informed of the school accounts. Currently the Grant Account has €13,000 – this is money we receive from the Department of Education and Science to help with running costs. From time to time the Board uses some Fundraising Account money to supplement the Grant Account. In general and for now it is estimated that about €10,000 is needed annually from fundraising to keep our school running. This varies at different points in the year as grants do not come all together. (i.e. last November there was a shortfall of €15,000 in our Grant Account).
Fundraising Account:
Fundraising Account has currently a healthy balance of €24,000
- Money has been used recently to purchase
- fiddles
- watercooler
- pay extra learning support hours (2 ½ extra a week)
Money raised from ‘Shamrock’ project will be used to buy new music & percussion instruments for each classroom.
Kilmalum:
At last, after many years of hard work, departmental approval has been secured for the move to Kilmalum. At present our solicitor has been instructed to draw up a lease, architects and engineers are finalising plans for the footpath and road improvements.
The Department of Education and Science has agreed to fund this whole project. We will however need to pay for extras:-
- I.T. grant will help with interactive whiteboard system in each class – but going forward we will need more I.T. investment.
- Also alarm system / intercom system / school garden will be some upcoming extras and we need to be mindful of ‘hidden extra costs’.
- Note: also soon the school will purchase a large PVC coated shed that we will be able to bring with us to Kilmalum.
Up-coming other expenses may include
● School alarm ● School garden
● School yard designs ● Land development to play areas
● Sports equipment ● Books for new classroom library
● AED defibrillator ● Chairs for meetings
● Carpark development (DES only provide staff parking)
The Board approved a list of payments including plans to purchase a new shed for storage. The rent of St Joseph’s Hall for an extra period each week for rang Eithne was also approved.
Enrolment / Clárú:
The Board have approved the enrolment of and set a maximum of 31 for naíonán shóisearacha for September 2010.
According to Department of Education figures the board will be able to employ another teacher, so can guarantee the continuation of excellent education for each of these naíonán, and for all our pupils.
Imeachtaí scoile / School events:
The board were delighted to hear details of recent (Seachtain glas) and future (Seachtain na Gaeilge) events for our school, providing further example of ‘Scoil atá níos mó ná scoil’, ‘A school that is more than a school’.
Next meeting 19ú Aibreán 6pm
